About Wild Words

Check out you local library

Why not check out some of the authors and illustrators in this years festival in your local library? Libraries are great places to get book recommendations, find out what you like to read and pick up the latest books from your favourite authors. Your local librarian will be able to help you find a book to suit you.

The Reading Room

The Reading Room is the official book shop for the festival. It is located on Bridge Street, Carrick on Shannon. From picture books to the latest in young adult fiction, you’ll find plenty of interest, and naturally all of the books from the authors featured at the festival. Drop in over the weekend and check out their brilliant selection.

The Wild Words Festival for Young Authors is specifically for teenagers to enjoy books, to meet authors, and to encourage an interest in creative writing.

While the festival also hosts events for young people aged 0 to 14 years in partnership with children and young people's groups in different locations around Leitrim, the festival's centrepiece programme is at the end of June for teenagers who have started to write their own short stories and poetry.

The festival is managed by a voluntary committee and it is made possible through the support of Leitrim County Council Arts Office, The Reading Room, and Leitrim Library Service. Wild Words is funded by The Arts Council, Leitrim County Council and the Irish Writers Centre.

Wild Words is developed in partnership with Leitrim County Council, The Reading Room Bookshop and Leitrim Library Service
